At the moment, 38-year-old Dean Neuzil-Keary approached Liu and attempted to steal her purse. Police said Liu began to struggle with Keary and fought him off. However, Keary was able to snatch her phone and flee to an awaiting white van, police said.

At that moment, a witness told authorities a city of Miami police officer was near where the robbery took place. The officer then found the van and attempted to stop it, but Keary began to drive west on State Road 112 and exited on the NW 42nd Avenue exit, police said.

Due to traffic, Keary was stopped and arrested moments later, police said.

Sky 10 was above the scene at NW 36th Street and State Road 112 shortly after 11 a.m. as several police cars and the white van remained at the scene.

At that time, Keary and another suspect -- who wasn't identified -- had already been taken to jail. Detectives could be seen rummaging through the van.
