Bernard Palmer, accused of stabbing girlfriend, arrested in Homestead

Miramar police say suspect stabbed girlfriend, fled with 2-month-old daughter

MIRAMAR, Fla. – A man accused of stabbing his girlfriend was arrested Saturday in Homestead, Miramar police said.

Bernard Palmer, 26, was arrested on charges of attempted murder and violation of probation.

Detective Natasha Richardson said officers were called to a stabbing on USA Today Way and found a woman, identified as Jassany Dancy, with a large laceration to her neck. She told police that she had been stabbed by Palmer, who was her boyfriend.

Richardson said Palmer fled with his and Dancy's 2-month-old daughter. It was later determined that the girl had been dropped off at a relative's home in Miami Gardens and was safe.

Palmer was being held at the main Broward County jail without bond.

A motive for the stabbing wasn't immediately known.
