New suspect in Sgt. Chris Reyka murder case

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff's Office held a media event Tuesday afternoon with news on the six-year-old murder of Sgt. Chris Reyka.

The man involved in Reyka's slaying: Shawn Labeet, who had a shootout with Miami-Dade police on Sept. 13, 2007, killing Officer Jose Somohano and injuring three others. Labeet was killed by police later that day after being tracked to a Pembroke Pines apartment complex.

Reyka was killed just 34 days prior to Labeet's death. BSO detectives claim to have strong evidence that Labeet -- who allegedly engaged in robberies posing as a police officer -- was involved in Reyka's murder outside of a Walgreen's store in Pompano Beach and they are asking for the public's help in furthering the case against the dead man.
