Body found in pool at home in Hollywood

Realtor discovers body during showing

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found floating in his pool Tuesday.

Neighbors told Local 10 News reporter Carlos Suarez that a realtor found the body of Greg Platzer at the home in the 1300 block of Van Buren Street in South Lake during a showing.

It's unclear how long the home has been for sale, but neighbors said they last saw Platzer a few days ago when he was doing yard work.

"He lived there by himself," neighbor Lori Tofexis told Local 10 News. "His kids are older."

It's unclear whether foul play was involved in the death.

"They're treating it like a homicide, which I guess is what they have to do until they find out otherwise," Tofexis said.

Police told Local 10 News that detectives are conducting a "death investigation" and have not ruled the incident a homicide.

Neighbors said Platzer has lived at the home for about 15 years. They said he had no enemies, but when he was out of town he would ask people to house sit because he would sometimes catch a homeless man sleeping, showering and going to the bathroom in his backyard.
