Family asks for community's help to find 10-year-old boy's killer

Aaron Vu died after shooting at Nail Hong-Kong

MIAMI ā€“ While police hope surveillance video can help track down the shooters who killed 10-year-old Aaron Vu and injured his father during a nail salon robbery in Miami-Dade, Vu's family plans to meet with police Monday and ask the community for help.

Police said the shooting took place at Nail Hong-Kong, located at 14832 Northwest 7th Avenue, late Friday.

On Saturday, police passed out flyers to nearby businesses and released surveillance video.

The family plans to hold the meeting at 2 p.m. Monday at the Miami-Dade Police Department headquarters at 9105 NW 25th Street in Doral to ask the community for help in locating or identifying the individuals who are responsible for the boy's death.

According to investigators, two armed masked suspects entered the nail salon and shot Vu and his father, Hai Nam Vu.

"The kids kept asking for Aaron. They kept asking why he's taking a long nap," said his great aunt, Thi Pham. "The family, because of his condition, we have not told him about Aaron's death."

Authorities said the robbers then ran off.

Both victims were taken to the hospital after they were both struck. Police said the child was pronounced dead at the hospital.

"I just hope that the community's seen how it can be your child," said Dorothy Johnson, a family friend.

Police are offering a $3,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
