Boy pulled from community pool in Oakland Park

Maintenance worker performs CPR on boy

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – A boy was taken to a hospital after being pulled from a community swimming pool in Oakland Park.

The 3-year-old boy was found unresponsive in the pool at La Estancia Apartments off Northwest 21st Avenue.

Property manager Linda Bowers told Local 10 News that the boy's teenage siblings were supposed to be watching him.

"When the mom came down to ask the brother and sister, 'Where's your little brother,' that's when everybody started looking," Bowers said.

The boy's mother eventually found the boy in the pool and yelled for help.

Gregory Johnson, a maintenance worker who just began employment there, said the boy was submerged in the water.

"He was lifeless," Johnson said.

Johnson performed CPR on the boy until paramedics arrived.

Paramedics took the boy to Plantation General Hospital. His condition was not immediately known.
