Burglar smashes through front door of Pembroke Pines cellphone store

Thousands of dollars worth of merchandise stolen

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – Police are searching for a man who smashed his way into a cellphone store in Pembroke Pines early Monday.

The burglary was reported just before 5 a.m. at the OB Wireless store off Pines Boulevard and McArthur Parkway.

Surveillance video from the store shows a man using what appears to be a hammer to smash his way through the glass front door. The store owner said the thief first used a van to try to back up into the store.

"The alarm (company) called me (and) I already knew someone had come in," store owner Orelvis Beltran said. "I checked on my phone and I see that they have broken in, there's someone inside, and it's crazy because it's my work, it's my business and I'm not feeling right."

Beltran said the burglar also kicked in a back door where computer and phones are repaired.

He said about $10,000 worth of electronics were stolen and said he does not have insurance.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
