Car crashes onto patio of Big Fish Restaurant in Miami

Driver claims pedal got stuck

MIAMI ā€“ A car crashed into the patio of a Miami restaurant Wednesday night.

Miami Department of Fire-Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll said the driver of the BMW lost control of the BMW and crashed into the patio area of the Big Fish Restaurant near the Valero gas station at Biscayne Boulevard and 78th Street.

Carroll said the driver claimed that the gas pedal got stuck, causing the car to crash through a railing and land on its side.

No patrons were on the patio at the time of the crash. The driver was not injured.

"I thank God that, I have a good friend of mine that comes here and sits right there at that table, and last night he came about five minutes late and the car was there man," Big Fish employee Cali Linares said. "It would've crashed (into) him. It would've killed him."

Hossaim Schakhawat told Local 10 News that his car saved the patrons inside the restaurant. The BMW struck his car before landing on the patio.
