Police say passenger of Corolla listed in serious condition

MIAMI ā€“ A fire rescue unit headed to a call was involved in a crash Thursday evening.

A Miami Fire Rescue truck was traveling southbound on Southwest 37th Avenue at 4:15 p.m. Thursday when it crashed with a Toyota Corolla that was traveling northbound as investigators said it attempted to make a left turn onto Southwest 8th Street.

Miami police said the driver and passenger of the Corolla were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital by Miami Fire Rescue.

The driver, a woman in her 50s, was in stable condition. Fire rescue officials said the 28-year-old female passenger was extricated after suffering a severe leg injury.

Police said the passenger is in serious condition.

Firefighters were not injured in the crash and were able to come to the aid of the two women in the Corolla following the crash, according to fire rescue officials.

No one was being transported in the fire rescue unit.
