Police say Mylife Rivera-Vasquez, 20, convinced the stepmother of her child to meet her at NW 28th Street and 17th Avenue so she could see her 15-month-old daughter, Juliet Rivera. When the stepmother arrived, Rivera-Vasquez and several others attacked her and drove away with the girl.

The car that Rivera-Vasquez was riding in was then involved in a crash with a Chevy Tahoe. The driver, Kristofer Daniel Astorga, was killed. Rivera-Vasquez and Rivera were injured.

Rivera-Vasquez is charged with two counts of simple battery.

The driver of the Tahoe was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in good condition. A passenger in that vehicle was treated for minor injuries.
