Crews in Hallandale Beach work to repair ruptured water main

No boil water alert issued, but there was some discoloration in water

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. ā€“ The city of Hallandale Beach is working Wednesday afternoon to repair a major water main that ruptured underneath the Intracoastal Waterway before 4 p.m.

Officials said the city has three water mains between the mainland and island residents, and that only the water line behind the 3100 block of South Ocean Drive, or A1A, was affected.

The city activated an inter-local agreement with the city of North Miami to supplement the city's water supply, officials said, adding that no one lost water.

There is no boil water alert, but there was some discoloration in the water, which was expected to clear soon, officials said.

Crews were being mobilized to repair the line. Officials said updates will be posted on the City of Hallandale Beach's Facebook page and Twitter account.
