Delbar Diaz, cousins shot during robbery near Roberto Clemente Park

MIAMI ā€“ A 12-year-old boy who was one of three people injured in a shooting Saturday night near a Miami park remains hospitalized.

Delbar Diaz was shot by a woman during a robbery near Roberto Clemente Park. He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he remained Tuesday. Relatives said he is alert and speaking.

A JMH spokeswoman said Diaz is listed in good condition.

Diaz's cousin said he had just arrived in Miami from Honduras the same day of the shooting.

Two other teenagers, Jeydin Martinez, 19, and Juan Escobar Castro, 17, were also shot during the robbery.

Martinez said she was walking with her cousins when they were approached by a woman who demanded their belongings. Martinez said the woman grabbed her purse and asked for all of their cellphones. She said the woman shot them even after they complied with her demands.

"We were walking. She came up behind us. She asked us for our phones. We gave them to her and she started shooting," Martinez said.

Police said the woman got away in a white or silver Chrysler.

Martinez was shot in the ankle, Castro was grazed by a bullet and DiazĀ was shot in the torso. He collapsed a block away from the park.

"I took my shirt off and I applied pressure to his chest," a neighbor said.

Police are still looking for the shooter and her getaway driver.

"We have fear. We don't want anything like this to happen again," Martinez said.
