2 children sought in connection with burglary at C.B. Smith Park

Boys accused of ransacking office, causing extensive damage

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – Pembroke Pines police are searching for two children who they believe burglarized an office at C.B. Smith Park.

Surveillance video released Wednesday shows two boys breaking into the concession stand at the Paradise Cove Water Park at 12:50 p.m. Feb. 14 by prying open the side glass door.

Police said the boys pried open four cash registers, damaged two Dell computer monitors and ransacked the office.

"First (what) they did on the video was go after the registers and try to pry them open with little luck," park manager Steve Woytko said. "Then it looked like they got bored and a little antsy after that and caused a little havoc."

No money was found inside the registers because the park was not yet open for the season.

The boys are also accused of discharging a fire extinguisher and spraying surveillance cameras with a liquid.

Police said they also tried to break the cameras by hitting them with a tool.

No items were stolen.

"We work here and this is a place that we take care of, and we want to see it at its best," Woytko said. "But also because it is here for the community. We'd rather have these kids here in the park having a good time, a safe place for them, instead of them trying to come in and rob from it or vandalize it."

Anyone with information about the boys' identities is asked to call Pembroke Pines police at 954-435-6563 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
