2 Hialeah men accused of robbing 2 gas stations at gunpoint

Third man accused of casing store before one of the robberies

HIALEAH, Fla. ā€“ Two men from Hialeah were arrested Saturday in connection with two armed robberies that were reported last month at local gas stations, authorities said.

The first robbery was reported shortly after 4 a.m. Nov. 12 at an Exxon gas station at 801 E. 25th St.

According to an arrest report, Reinier Ocampo, 21, and Rafael Montalvo, 30, entered the gas station wearing motorcycle helmets and Ocampo stayed by the front door, acting as a lookout, while Montalvo approached the counter.

Police said Montalvo pulled out a Glock handgun from his waistband, pointed it at the clerk and demanded money from the register.

Police said the clerk put about $600 inside a blue Jansport backpack, and the suspects left the store in a 2006 silver Honda CBR600RR.

Osniel Munoz, 24, is also facing an armed robbery charge because authorities said he cased out the scene 20 minutes before the robbery occurred.

Ocampo and Montalvo are also accused of robbing a Marathon gas station at 4444 W. 12th Ave. on Nov. 15.

Police said the suspects entered the store shortly after 6 a.m. and Montalvo stood by the front door acting as a lookout, while Ocampo approached the clerk with a black handgun.

Police said Ocampo ordered the clerk to give him all the money from the register and the victim handed him about $350.

The suspects again left on the Honda motorcycle, police said.

Ocampo and Montalvo were arrested Saturday on armed robbery charges.

They are both being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.Ā
