Armed robbers force their way into Pembroke Pines home

Crime reported Sunday night

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. ā€“ Police are investigating an armed home invasion robbery Sunday night in Pembroke Pines, city police said.Ā

A woman was inside her garage at about 10:50 p.m. when two armed men approached her at Northwest Seventh Street and Northwest 159thĀ Way, police said.

The men walked into the garage, demanded valuables and threatened to harm the woman if she didnā€™t cooperate, police said.

The woman was ordered inside the home at gunpoint.

The robbers made their way to the master bedroom where a man was forced to the floor, police said. Three children were also home at the time.

The home was ransacked, with the robbers getting away with cash, two wedding rings, three cellphones and a wallet, police said.

No one was injured.Ā

Residents in the neighborhood are concerned about the crime.Ā

"It could happen to any of us here because a lot of us are very open and friendly like this," Vonda Kirsch said. "We have our garages open a lot, so it's very disconcerting."Ā

Another neighbor said it wasn't the first timeĀ the area has been targeted.Ā

"It's horrible because it happened a month ago and we have constant break-ins in cars weekly and itā€™s just getting bad," Jeffery Neville said. "We don't have a gate, we donā€™t have video cameras at the entrance, and we do have security, but they seem to figure out when security's not around."

Just a few houses down, a woman and her 18-year-old daughter were held at gunpoint in December and robbed in their driveway after getting home from the movies.

"This is scary because you know this happened regularly, almost every Sunday night for the last month," Edgar Galvis said.Ā

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.Ā
