MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. – Austin Harrouff, 19, will be arrested and charged in the deaths of a Martin County couple upon his release from St. Mary's Medical Center, Martin County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Trisha Kukuvka said Friday.
Kukuvka said he will be charged with first-degree murder in the death of Michelle Mischon Stevens and John Stevens. He will also face an attempted first-degree murder charge in the attack of Jeffrey Fisher, armed burglary and resisting an officer without violence, she said.
Harrouff remains at the West Palm Beach hospital in critical, but stable condition.
Fisher, 47, who was attacked while trying to help the couple Monday night, was released from the hospital on Thursday.
Kukuvka said blood tests have been sent to the FBI to determine whether Harrouff was on flakka or bath salts at the time of the attack. She said initial blood tests were negative for street drugs, like marijuana and cocaine.
Authorities said the FSU student, who was in town visiting his family, stabbed the couple inside their garage after leaving a Duffy's restaurant in Jupiter, where he had an argument with his father.
Martin County Sheriff William Snyder said deputies found Harrouff on top of Stevens, biting and removing pieces of the victim's face with his teeth.
He said the first deputy who arrived tried to stop Harrouff with a Taser, but that didn't stop him. More deputies and a K-9 unit were called and eventually overpowered him.
The Harrouff family released a statement Friday, expressing their "deepest sympathy for the pain and suffering" caused by their son.

A memorial for Mishcon Stevens and her husband will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale.
