Deerfield Beach woman ordered out of shower during home invasion

Detectives believe same man involved in home invasion reported 2 days later

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. ā€“ A Deerfield Beach woman was getting ready to go to church Monday morning when a masked gunman burst into her bathroom and ordered her out of the shower.

"He pulled the gun out at me (and) he said, 'Give me the money.' I said, 'I don't have money,'" the woman told Local 10 News reporter Derek Shore. "He said, 'Come out of the shower,' and he said, 'Lay on the floor.' I laid on the floor, but I said, 'Please, give me a chance, give my life a chance.'"

The woman, who did not want to be identified, said that the man told her to get up and led her, with no clothes on, to a second bedroom.

She said he grabbed her purse and other items, and she ran for help.

Deputies said the gunman fired one shot at the woman, which nearly struck her.

She said she ran to a neighbor's apartment, who called 911 and got her a towel.

Broward sheriff's detectives believe the man who got away is likely involved in a similar home invasion reported Wednesday in the same complex on Lock Road.

Authorities said the man got away with the victim's car keys and electronics.

Anyone with information about either case is asked to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $3,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
