Hollywood man shot during dispute over woman, police say

Adam Mawardi taken to hospital in critical condition

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. ā€“ A man was shot early Wednesday morning in Hollywood during a dispute with another man about a woman, authorities said.

The shooting was reported shortly after 6 a.m. near the gate of an apartment complex at 3451 Hollywood Oaks Drive.

"My husband knew right away (that) it was gunfire," Karen Estrin, who lives in the area, said.

Police said the victim, Adam Mawardi, 29, was shot near the guard gate.

"I don't know the exact spot the victim was in. All I know is that he was out near the guard gate area," Hollywood police spokeswoman Miranda Grossman said.

Grossman said in a news release that Mawardi was involved in an altercation with another man regarding a woman when the man pulled out a gun and shot Mawardi.

A gray pickup truck was towed from the scene, which neighbors believe is likely a key piece of evidence in the case.

"It's theirs," Estrin said. "I don't know if it's his, but it's owned by the family."

Grossman said Mawardi lives at the apartment complex with his parents.

He was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in critical condition.

Grossman said the gunman might be driving a 4-door, green Acura with a temporary tag and a possibly broken driver's side window.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Hollywood police at 954-967-4411 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
