Man accused of stabbing cousin in back appears in bond court

Arnold Jean, 24, ordered held in lieu of $25,000 bond

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A man accused of stabbing his cousin Monday at an Oakland Park apartment complex appeared in bond court on Tuesday.

Broward Sheriff's Office deputies said Arnold Jean, 24, stabbed his cousin during a heated argument and then took off in an SUV with his 2-year-old daughter in the back seat.

A judge set Jean's bond at $25,000 and ordered him to have no contact with his cousin.

Sky 10 was above the Oakwood Apartments at 4050 NE First Ave. Monday after the incident.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the 65-year-old victim was trying to run from Jean and fell to the ground as Jean stabbed her in the back.

Deputies arrested Jean at a business a few blocks away.

His daughter was unharmed and is now in the care of relatives.

A prosecutor told Local 10 News reporter Madeleine Wright that Jean has a lengthy rap sheet.

"Mr. Jean most recently went to Florida state prison and was released in 2014 for possession of a firearm or ammunition by a conflicted felon, criminal mischief (and) discharging a firearm in public," the prosecutor said. "(He) went to prison for tampering evidence in 2014."
