Man dies after road-rage incident that ended in Coral Springs, police say

Other person involved in incident flees in dark-colored pickup truck

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Coral Springs police are investigating a road-rage incident Thursday that left one man dead.

Police said the incident started in Margate and ended in the area of Atlantic Boulevard and Riverside Drive in Coral Springs.

"There was an unconscious male lying in the roadway. We received a few different 911 calls," Sgt. Carla Kmiotek said.

Police said the drivers were involved in an altercation and one driver, identified as Paul Peterman, 37, of Margate, was airlifted to a hospital.

Kmiotek said witnesses saw Peterman get out of his truck to confront the other driver.

"There was no shooting, no stabbing. There was some sort of incident, altercation between either him and the subject or the vehicle," Kmiotek said.

Peterman was pronounced dead later in the day.

The other driver fled the scene in a dark-colored pickup truck, police said.
