Malcolm Turner, 24, accused of attacking woman outside Pompano Beach Wendy's

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. ā€“ A man who was arrested Wednesday for allegedly violating his probation and resisting arrest is now facing charges for snatching a gold necklace off the neck of a 72-year-old woman, the Broward Sheriff's Office said Friday.

The armed robbery was reported July 24 outside a Wendy's fast-food restaurant in Pompano Beach.

Broward sheriff's deputies said Malcolm Turner, 24, was seen on video walking past the woman on his way inside the restaurant. A few minutes later, he was seen loitering outside the restaurant, apparently waiting for the woman to return.

Margaret Ghee told Local 10 News that she was walking out of the restaurant when the man yelled, "Miss, miss" to get her attention.

As she turned around, Turner was seen on the video pushing her to the ground and snatching the gold chain from around her neck, deputies said.

After the man ran away, Ghee got up and walked back inside the restaurant for help.

Ghee said she hit her head on the pavement during the struggle and spent the next few days taking Tylenol for the pain.

Deputies said Turner faces charges of strong arm robbery and elderly abuse.

Records show that Turner has an extensive arrest history, with 17 arrests relating to battery, grand theft and cocaine possession since 2011.
