Man robs Miramar Publix employees shortly before store opens, police say

Armed robber leaves with undisclosed amount of cash

MIRAMAR, Fla. – Miramar police are searching for a man who robbed employees early Monday at a Publix store, about an hour before the grocery store opened.

The armed robbery was reported just after 6 a.m. at the Publix at 11000 Pembroke Road.

Police said an employee was cleaning the windows when a man armed with a handgun put the gun to the employee's head.

Police said the gunman ordered the man to a back room, where another employee was working. Police said he handed the woman a bag and told her to put money in it.

An undisclosed amount of cash was taken.

Police described the gunman as being about 5 feet, 10 inches tall. They said he has a birthmark on his left cheek.
