Miami-Dade police crack down on Yellow Tape street gang

46 people face charges in Operation Bad Manor

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ The Miami-Dade Police Department is cracking down on a growing criminal street gang that calls itself Yellow Tape.

Police said the gang, which started off as a neighborhood clique, operates within the Cutler Manor Apartment Complex at 10875 SW 216th St.

"We have heard the pleas of the community for protection and for assistance," U.S. attorney Wifredo Ferrer said.

Miami-Dade police spokesman Detective Daniel Ferrin said Operation Bad Manor, which was carried out Wednesday morning, consisted of the execution of 10 search warrants and the preparation of 31 arrest warrants.

Ferrin said 15 bench warrants were also prepared as well as probation checks for known Yellow Tape gang members and associates.

Detectives said the gang has transitioned into a criminal enterprise with subsets that use "violence and intimidation to take over drug territory."

Ferrin said gang members have been involved in narcotic sales, burglaries, robberies, murder and firearm violations.

A total of 25 people were arrested Wednesday and face a slew of charges. Ferrin said a total of 46 people are expected to be charged in the investigation.

"Finally this community in Cutler Manor can have safety and closure to the issues they've been having," Assistant State Attorney Alejandra Lopez said.
