Drugs, money found in Tyler Palmer's bedroom during raid, police say

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ A Miami-Dade police major's home was raided Wednesday by authorities and his son was arrested on charges of dealing drugs, including marijuana and cocaine.

According to an arrest report, police went into Tyler Palmer's bedroom and found bags containing marijuana and cocaine, a large number of clear Ziplock bags and a gray box with four medicine pill bottles.

Detectives said two of the pill bottles contained 15 amphetamine pills. Three storage bags of psilocybin were also found, according to the report.

A black scale, a bong with drug residue and a clear container with marijuana tar was found on top of Palmer's desk in his bedroom, police said.

A total of $3,140 was found in various areas throughout his bedroom and it was impounded as evidence.

Palmer's father is Miami-Dade police Major Arnold Palmer, who oversees the economic crimes bureau. He also has other relatives who are employed by the police department, authorities said.

"The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) acknowledges the arrest of Mr. Tyler Palmer, who is the relative of several MDPD employees," Miami-Dade police spokesman Daniel Ferrin said in a statement. "There is no indication at this time of any involvement by our employees in this case; as such, their statuses with the department remain unchanged. Due to the open nature of the investigation, we will not comment further."

Tyler Palmer is unemployed, according to his arrest report.

He was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and faces charges ofĀ  trafficking cocaine, possession of marijuana with the intent to sell, possession of psilocybin with the intent to sell and possession of amphetamines.
