Officers identified after North Miami Beach burglary leads to shooting

Police shoot at suspects as they try to flee scene, authorities say

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. ā€“ Authorities have identified two North Miami Beach police officers who were involved in a shooting Monday while responding to a burglary call.

The officers were identified Friday as Michael Mundy and Michael Bolinger.

The burglary was reported Monday morning at a home near Northeast 151st Street and Northeast 13th Avenue. The homeowners were away, but received an alert from their alarm company.

Miami-Dade police said the officers arrived at the home and saw the suspects trying to get away in a black sedan.

Police said the officers fired at the suspects, striking the driver in the arm.

Police said the second suspect ran away but was taken into custody with the help of a K-9 unit. Police said the police dog bit the suspect during the incident.

Both suspects,Ā DwanaunneĀ Williams, 20, and Olajuwon Baker, 33, were taken to a hospital to be treated for their injuries.

None of the officers were injured.
