Person of interest sought in Hallandale Beach double shooting

Woman fatally shot outside home she shared with grandmother

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Police have identified a person of interest in an early morning double shooting in Hallandale Beach.

Family members said Marlene Turnquest, 24, was shot and killed just after midnight Wednesday in front of the Hallandale Beach home where she lived with her grandmother.

"I was asleep," Turnquest's grandmother, Dorothy Bolt, said. "I heard a shot, and as I got up, I heard another shot. Then I heard her scream out, 'Oh, no.'"

Bolt looked out her window and saw that her granddaughter had been shot.

"I said, 'Oh lord, my baby, my baby.' I come out the house. I didn't think about the shooter. I didn't think about the bullets. I didn't think about nothing but my baby was out there laying on the ground. I could tell by her clothes that it was her," Bolt said.

Hallandale Beach police said a man who was with Turnquest was also shot. He was taken to a hospital and was undergoing surgery.

Detectives identified Eddie Mosley, 27, as a person of interest in the shooting.

"We do have evidence that shows that the three did know each other, and something occurred earlier in the evening that led up to this," Maj. Pedro Abut said.

Police said Mosley left the area on a bicycle.

A perimeter was established near Mosley's home at 10th Street and Sixth Avenue. They were searching car trunks and backyards for Mosley.

Family members said Turnquest was planning to move to North Carolina this weekend.

Bolt said she believes that Mosley was one of her granddaughter's friends who had recently come to her house to help move furniture.

"I think I saw him right here in my living room," Bolt said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
