Pompano Beach man accused of sexually assaulting 16-year-old girl

Teen says Jason Fernandez, 36, forced her to perform oral sex on him

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A 36-year-old man was arrested Saturday after he sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl in Pompano Beach, Broward sheriff's deputies said.

According to an arrest report, the victim was walking home when a vehicle pulled up beside her and one of three men inside, whom she believed was her uncle, told her to get in.

Deputies said the teen quickly realized that she didn't know any of the men, but she was scared to jump out of the car because they drove to an area with which she was unfamiliar.

The teen told detectives that the man in the back seat, identified as Jason Fernandez, tried to remove her clothing and kiss her breasts, but she told him to stop.

Deputies said Fernandez then forced the girl to perform oral sex on him.

The teen escaped from the car when the men stopped to purchase more alcohol and Fernandez and the driver got out of the car, the report said.

Deputies said the teen ran to a nearby gas station, where she called 911.

All three men were detained at the scene.

Deputies said the driver and front-seat passenger confirmed the teen's story about how she met them and acknowledged that she told them that she was 16. They said the men claimed to be unaware about the sexual activities in the back seat.

Detectives said Fernandez initially denied having kidnapped the victim or having forced her into any sexual activity, but later admitted that her shirt had been removed, that he kissed her breasts and that she had performed oral sex on him.

Fernandez was arrested on a charge of sexual assault/battery on a minor.
