STOCK ISLAND, Fla. – A Stock Island man was arrested Thursday after he threatened a convenience store clerk with a knife and demanded money, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said.
The clerk told Deputy Wendy Negron that she was working at the Stock Island Chevron gas station Wednesday night when a man walked in at about midnight, pulled out a knife and pointed it at her.

The man, who was later identified as Rodney Santana, 49, then told the clerk to give him money, deputies said.
She refused, and Santana demanded money again, deputies said. Once again, the clerk refused to hand anything over and told him that if he was going to stab her that he should go ahead and do it, deputies said.
He then fled on a bicycle.
The clerk reported the incident to her supervisor and, after reviewing surveillance video, the store manager called deputies to report the incident.
Pictures of the suspect that were captured from the video were taken to various locations on Stock Island, and several people were able to identify Santana.
Deputies were later able to locate Santana at Safe Harbor Seafood on Front Street, where he was arrested on a charge of armed robbery and taken to jail.
