Robbers wearing a gorilla mask and hazmat gear hold up a First Bank branch in Sunrise.

SUNRISE, Fla. ā€“ A trio of armed robbers held up a bank Wednesday afternoon in Sunrise, injuring an employee, the FBI said.

FBI spokesman Jim Marshall said the robbers entered a First Bank branch on West Oakland Park Boulevard shortly before 2:30 p.m. and demanded money from a bank employee.

Marshall said a bank employee suffered minor injuries during the robbery and was treated at the scene.

The robbers got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

Surveillance photographs appeared to show two robbers wearing white hazardous materials outfits, while another robber appeared to be wearing a gorilla mask.

"One of our valued employees sustained a minor injury and is currently receiving medical care," Calixto Garcia-Velez, executive vice president of First Bank Florida, said in a statement. "The safety of our employees, customers and the communities in which we operate is of foremost importance to us. As such, we will continue to apply stringent security measures."
