David Storms, 48, of Seattle, was arrested after he pointed a gun at his uncle's head at Sugarloaf Lodge, deputies say.

SUGARLOAF KEY, Fla. – A Seattle man was arrested early Thursday in the Florida Keys after threatening his uncle with a gun, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

David Storms, 48, and his uncle were drinking at the bar at the Sugarloaf Lodge, where they were vacationing, when Storms became "very intoxicated," sheriff's spokeswoman Becky Herrin said.

Storms' uncle tried to get him to go back to their room, but he refused. The uncle left and returned to the bar a short time later, again asking Storms to return to the room, Herrin said.

This time, as they approached the door to the room, Storms became belligerent and started yelling at his uncle, then pulled out a handgun and pointed it at his uncle's head, Herrin said.

When deputies arrived, they heard the men yelling and saw Storms walking toward them, Herrin said.

Storms wasn't armed when deputies detained him, but they found a .22-caliber handgun with wooden grips in a nearby grassy area, Herrin said.

He was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and improper exhibition of a firearm.
