MIAMI – Several people were injured in a multivehicle crash Sunday along Northwest 18th Avenue and Northwest 58th Street, Miami Fire-Rescue reports.
The incident was a hit-and-run crash, rescue crews said.
Witnesses report seeing seeing a driver run from the scene.
Numerous residents came running out after hearing the crash and 911 was called, Miami fire rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll said.
Three victims were transported to a trauma center and the Jaws of Life were used to free some of the victims.
"When we arrived, we found three women, ages 25 - 30 inside the Hyundai Sonata, that were trapped," Carroll said. "The Jaws of Life and cutters to free them. It took about 10 minutes to get everyone out of the vehicle."
Two other women were also taken to an area hospital with injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
