Surveillance video captures man trying to break into Coral Gables bicycle shop

Incident reported Jan. 13 at All 4 Cycling

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Surveillance video obtained Thursday by Local 10 News showing a man trying to break into a bicycle shop last month in Coral Gables.

The incident was reported Jan. 13 at All 4 Cycling at 1180 S. Dixie Highway.

According to an incident report, surveillance video captured a man trying to break into a side door with a crowbar and what appeared to be a rubber mallet.

The shop owner, Pedro Navarro, said the man was not able to get inside because of a "stop bar" that was in place as a security measure.

"Because we had this bar right here, he couldn't get in," Navarro said.

Navarro said he is grateful that the thief wasn't able to break into the store because some of their bicycles cost as much as $12,000.

"They know that our bicycles are pretty expensive, and if they steal it, they can sell it and get pretty good money for it," he said.

The would-be burglar is described as a white man who is about 6 feet tall and has light-colored dreadlocks that come down to his shoulders.

He was last seen leaving the area in a vehicle that fled west toward Mariposa Court.

A description of the vehicle was not released.

Anyone with information about the man's identity is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
