Suspects arrested in fatal shooting of US Army Ranger at Miccosukee casino

Police say Christmas poker game led to fatal dispute

MIAMI – Two men have been arrested in connection with a fatal Christmas Day shooting of an Army Ranger outside a South Florida casino.

Kenin Bailey, 25, and Mikey Lenard, 25, were arrested Monday on charges of first-degree murder.

Police said Bailey shot Fernando Duarte, 33, during an argument in the parking lot of the Miccosukee Resort & Gaming.

According to police, the suspects were playing poker at the same table as Duarte when words were exchanged. Police said the confrontation spilled into the parking lot, and Bailey shot Duarte during the altercation.

Police said Lenard also faces a charge with accessory after the fact, while Bailey faces a charge of discharging a firearm from a vehicle.

According to the newspaper Diario Las Americas, Duarte was a U.S. Army Ranger. He died at Kendall Regional Medical Center.
