Thief leaves cellphone behind during cellphone repair store robbery

Clerk was about get some gas back from thief as he fled

WILTON MANORS, Fla. – Wilton Manors police are searching for a male customer who they say robbed a cellphone repair store on March 14.

The robbery was reported at about 5 p.m. in the 60th block of East Oakland Park Boulevard.

The customer went into the store, got his phone fixed, and then refused to pay for the repair, police said. When the clerk went to call police, the customer went back into the store to look for his phone.

the robber took money from a cash register and the clerk’s wallet, police said. He then ran out of the store. 

The clerk saw the customer running and was able to get some of the money back, police said.  

The customer got away with about $40, but left his cellphone behind.

The phone is now in custody of the police.

Police are searching for a male who is believed to be between 16 - 18 years old, about 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall with short black hair.
