Cross-dressing gunman robs Dollar General in Deerfield Beach

Man dressed as woman demands money, cigarettes from employees

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. ā€“ Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are trying to identify a cross-dressing robber.

The armed robbery occurred Monday night at the Dollar General store in Deerfield Beach.

BSO spokeswoman Gina Carter said two female employees were getting ready to close the store when they realized a customer was still inside. That customer was a man who was dressed as a woman, carrying a purse and wearing a curly wig with a scarf that covered part of his face.

When the women approached him, the man pulled a gun out of the purse and told them to "stay calm." He then walked them to the cash register and demanded money, as well as several cartons of cigarettes.

As the women were filling shopping bags with money, the robber told them to hurry up "if you want to go home."

Anyone who recognizes the cross-dressing gunman is asked to call the BSO at 954-321-4270 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
