Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart released a statement on Thursday night saying he was witnessing increased reports of oppression and brutal political arrests.

"The iconic leader of the Ladies in White who has suffered countless brutalities at the hands of Castro's thugs, was arrested today," Diaz-Balart said. "I condemn her arrest and demand her immediate, unconditional release."
