Daughter of father fatally shot Thanksgiving night speaks out

Craig Garvin gunned down on front porch of his Little River home

MIAMI – Speaking nearby a teddy bear, flowers and dried blood, Cranisha Garvin said her father, 38-year-old Craig Garvin, was gunned down on the front porch of his Little River home Thanksgiving night.

"He didn't have a chance at all. As soon as he came outside, boom, boom, boom, shots just crazy," said Cranisha Garvin.

Craig Garvin had seven children, ages 5 to 15, and Cranisha said he was a good dad.

"He was strict, he was strict but at the same time he wanted the best for us," she said. "He was very supportive."

Her mother and the rest of the family now want to know why he was killed and who killed him.

"I know she is taking it hard, constantly crying and screaming," said Cranisha. "We just need some answers."

A makeshift memorial stands where Garvin lost his life. His daughter said he has been in trouble with the law in the past, but nothing too serious.

Cranisha said her father didn't have any enemies that she knew of but she said he was called out and ambushed.

Ironically, Cranisha said Garvin was called out by a friend who goes by the name "Happy."

"He called him outside and gunshots were fired as soon as he walked outside, so we are thinking maybe the homeboy has something to do with it all," said Cranisha.

Miami-Dade police are investigating and are hoping witnesses come forward with more information.
