David Solomon accused of molesting second boy on baseball team

Solomon accused of inappropriately touching boys in Cooper City Optimist League team

COOPER CITY, Fla. ā€“ A former youth baseball coach for the Cooper City Optimist League is facing more molestation charges.

David Solomon, 47, was arrested at his home last week on two counts of sexual assault of a minor. He now faces two additional molestation charges after a second 11-year-old boy came forward.

According to an arrest report, Solomon touched the boy's genitals, penis and buttocks on and around May 2 during sleepovers at his home.

Police said Solomon would invite the boy to his home to Ā play with his son, who was also on the baseball team. But police said once the victim arrived, he would discover that Solomon's wife, daughter and son were not at the home.

The victim told detectives that Solomon tricked him into coming to his home under the pretense that his son would be there several times. He said he spent the night at Solomon's home after watching the third game in the NBA Playoffs on May 2, and claimed Solomon told him to sleep alone in the guest room instead of in his son's room.

According to the report, Solomon sneaked into the room and began scratching and rubbing the boy's back before touching his torso, legs and penis.

Detectives said the first victim who came forward also claimed that the sex acts happened during sleepovers at Solomon's house or in the car as Solomon dropped him off at home.

Solomon was previously arrested in 2000 on molestation charges while working as a physical education teacher at Hialeah Gardens Elementary School.

In that case, Solomon and his attorneys claimed that the two boys, who were under the age of 14, were lying. One of the boys eventually recanted his claims, and the state dropped the charges against Solomon.

"I feel relieved, and I just know it was a matter of time, (and) justice prevailed, I guess," Solomon told Local 10 News 15 years ago after the charges were dropped. "Kids know what to say and when to say it to get them out of whatever they need to get out of, and you just got to look out for number one."

Solomon remains in the Broward County Jail without bond.
