Dayont'e Resiles arrested in death of Jill Su

Davie woman found dead in bathtub Sept. 8

DAVIE, Fla. – Police have arrested a man in the death of a Davie woman whose body was found in a bathtub earlier this month.

Dayont'e Resiles, 20, of Lauderdale Lakes, was arrested Thursday morning on a charge of first-degree murder.

Jill Su, 59, was found dead Sept. 8 in the bathtub of her home at the gated West Ridge community.

Davie police Capt. Dale Engle said at a news conference Thursday afternoon that Su was killed during an apparent burglary.

Engle said investigators aren't sure why Resiles chose Su's home, but they aren't aware of any connection between Resiles and Su. Police also aren't sure how Resiles, who turned 20 four days after Su's body was found, got inside the gated community.

"I don't think it's uncommon that these people would do this in tandem or with more than one person," Engle said.

Sources told Local 10 that Su was found in the bathtub with her arms and legs bound and her neck cut.

Detectives won't say what led them to Resiles, who has at least three prior arrests on burglary charges, but sources told Local 10 he was linked to the crime by forensic evidence found at the scene.

"This information came about within the last day or two and we quickly followed up on it," Engle said.

Su, a relative of the Halliburton oil empire in Texas, was married to Dr. Nan Yao Su, a prominent entomology professor at the University of  Florida's Research and Development Center in Fort Lauderdale.
