2 sharks found dead in Miami Beach

8-foot bull shark found dead Wednesday morning; hammerhead found finned Tuesday

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Two sharks have been found dead in Miami Beach in as many days.

An 8-foot bull shark washed ashore on the beach Wednesday morning.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials told Local 10 News that this is the second shark to be found dead on the beach this week.

A 7 1/2-foot hammerhead shark was found Tuesday with its fin sliced off.

John Ripple, with Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces, said Tuesday's sighting was extremely rare.

"I can't remember the last time I've seen that," he said.

It is believed that the shark found Wednesday died after being caught and released by a fisherman.

Crowds of people were gathered around the shark carcass taking pictures.

Miami Beach Ocean Rescue called FWC officials to retrieve the carcass.
