The impact caused the the BMW to hit a curb before going airborne, flipping over and landing backwards, deputies said. The Toyota also went airborne, crossed over a center median and struck the rood of an oncoming Buick, before rolling over onto its side.

The Buick continued for 200 feet before hitting a curb and stopping on a swale, deputies said.

All three vehicles were totaled after the crash.

Witnesses said they saw Doheny flee the scene by foot.

Doheny was later spotted hiding in bushes by deputies. He then fled on foot and was eventually apprehended.

Three witnesses were able to identify Doheny as the driver of the BMW, deputies said.

Dohney was taken to an area hospital to be treated for injuries after the crash.

While at the hospital, Doheny stated that he ran because he was scared and "didn't know what to do when he saw people coming over to help him," deputies said.

Doheny declined a request for a blood sample from deputies, which they wanted as a part of their DUI investigation.

He was taken into custody on charges on resisting arrest without violence, reckless driving, two counts of failing to stop or remain at an accident involving serious injuries, leaving the scene of a crash and other charges.

Deputies noticed a "strong smell of alcoholic beverages emanating from Doheny's breath," along with slurred speech and glassy and red bloodshot eyes, according to a report.

The driver of the Toyota was pulled from her vehicle through a sun roof and was taken to Broward Health Medical Center for neck and back injuries.

The driver of the Buick was rescued from her vehicle and taken by helicopter to Broward Health Medical Center for a broken right eye socket, multiple lacerations, and neck and back injuries.
