Hotel resort's kitchen ordered shut with 32 violations

Kitchen at South Florida hotel ordered shut for 4th time

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – This week's Dirty Dining uncovered a resort with roach problems and a kitchen at a South Florida hotel that has been ordered shut for the fourth time. The kitchen might not be the only problem.

A resort guest walking out of the hotel said the hotel is not clean. He showed Local 10 News a picture of roaches he found inside. They were behind cabinets and inside refrigerators.

"This is the refrigerator at the Inverrary Hotel," he said. "They call it a resort."

Last week, based on a complaint, inspectors found 32 violations in the Lauderhill resort's kitchen and ordered the kitchen closed.

In fact, inspectors have been to the resort 26 times in the past year and a half. An average establishment is inspected twice a year.

"If you get me off camera, we can talk regarding what you need," a manager told Local 10 News.

Last week, there were fresh rodent droppings and live roaches. They had to stop sale on food because it was out of temperature, according to inspectors.

This is the fourth time this kitchen at Inverrary has been ordered shut.

"Stop filming," another manager said. "I want you out of my property now. Don't try to appease me."

In 2010, Local 10 spotted baked ziti, tuna fish, mayo and a pan of baked fish sitting out in an empty kitchen. In March, the back of the hotel looked more like a dump. Inspectors found rodent and roach issues and hot dogs in slime.

There are more than 300 poor or terrible guest ratings on trip advisor. Many guests posted their pictures.

The kitchen is open again after another re-inspection, and the resort is ready for visitors to check in.
