P.F. Chang's among 10 restaurants ordered shut by state

Roach, rodent issues found at multiple South Florida restaurants

AVENTURA, Fla. – State restaurant inspectors were busy in South Florida last week

Among the 10 places ordered shut was P.F. Chang's in Aventura, where state records showed the restaurant had a roach issue.

Big Louie's in Fort Lauderdale was also ordered shut after a roach and rodent issue was discovered.

Below is a list of places and some of their violations. All the places listed were allowed to re-open following ordered cleans and re-inspections.

"Live, small flying insects in kitchen, food preparation area, or food storage area. Approximately 20-30 lives flies.'

"Roach activity present as evidenced by approximately 18 live roaches found. Approximately 6-10 live roaches in a food prep room and approximately 8 live roaches observed in the dishwasher and food storage rooms."

The restaurant released the following statement Jan. 7: "At P.F. Chang's, quality and cleanliness are our top priorities. When we first discovered the problem, we immediately took extensive steps to correct it and passed the health department's inspection the next day. We are open for business."

Observed: 3 live roaches inside dough mixer in prep area next to hand wash sink. 2 live roaches running on the floor from cook line to soda dispenser. 4 + live roaches under draft beer dispenser 2 live roaches on carpet behind draft Beer dispenser.
