Dozens of vehicles burglarized in Pembroke Pines

Residents say police investigating about 60 vehicle break-ins throughout city

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. ā€“ Police are investigating overnight burglaries to dozens of vehicles in Pembroke Pines.

Residents of the Villas East community said police told them about 60 vehicles were targeted throughout the city.

In Villas East, six or seven vehicles were ransacked, seemingly at random.

"They tried to actually take items out of the car, but there was nothing in the car to take," a resident told Local 10 News. "So they just broke the windows and moved on to the next one."

Residents believe the burglaries happened overnight while they were asleep.

"The neighbors woke me up to let us know that the car was broken into, but I didn't hear anything," another resident said.

Residents spent Friday morning cleaning up broken glass and salvaging what they could in the aftermath.

"It's wrong, man," a resident said. "You shouldn't do something like that. We work too hard for everything that we have."
