MIAMI – A man accused of drunken driving in a fatal Lamborghini crash on the MacArthur Causeway in 2014 has accepted a plea deal.
Andres Toro was sentenced Friday to four years in prison, followed by one year of house arrest and five years of probation for the April 24, 2014, crash.
Dr. Malcolm Lloyd was killed when the Lamborghini in which he was a passenger slammed into a Chevrolet Suburban that was stopped at a red light. Lloyd was the founder, chairman and CEO of Old Nassau Imports.
Toro and the driver of the SUV, Raul Alfonzo, were injured.
Police said Andres Toro, Lloyd's brother-in-law, was driving more than 100 mph at the time of the crash.
Lloyd's wife said in court that she forgives Toro, but she remains heartbroken and forever changed by the crash.
"I forgive you," she said. "I know that you did not set out that evening to take my husband's life."
Toro, who faced up to 16 years in prison, said he was "very, very sorry" before being led away in handcuffs to begin his sentence immediately.
