Broward Sheriff's Office identifies Maritza Medina as woman killed in crash at US 27, Griffin Road

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff's Office identified the woman killed Wednesday morning when a man fleeing from police struck her car with his sport utility vehicle.

The crash killed 48-year-old Maritza Medina. Police said she was ejected from her car when Antonio Feliu ran a red light at the intersection of U.S. 27 and Griffin Road.

Neighbors said Medina, the mother of two, was the secretary of their neighbors association.

"Wonderful lady," said Frank Crandon. "Good neighbor. Quiet lady. Very, very sincere. Just a wonderful lady and this didn't have to happen today."

"She was a wonderful lady, sweet, always smiling," added Ron Dover. "This is really bad."

According to police, Feliu, 48, shot and killed two women in southwest Miami-Dade County before he led police on the chase that killed Medina.
