Driver suffers minor injuries after Tri-Rail train clips car in Miami

Train remained on tracks near 36th Street, 37th Avenue

MIAMI – A man suffered minor injuries Tuesday night when a Tri-Rail train clipped the back of a car stopped on the railroad tracks.

Miami Department of Fire-Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll said the driver was on the tracks at 36th Street, just west of 37th Avenue, when he saw the train lights and hit the gas pedal.

Carroll said the train only clipped the back of the car.

Authorities are investigating the possibility that the railroad signals were out at the time of the crash.

The train remained stopped on the tracks as the crash was investigated.
