Family displaced after apartment fire in Lauderdale Lakes

Fire started in kitchen

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. ā€“ Three adults and a child were displaced Tuesday afternoon after a fire broke out at their apartment unit in Lauderdale Lakes.

The fire was reported shortly before 2 p.m. at an apartment building at 2790 Somerset Drive.

A Broward Sheriff's Office representative said the fire started from something cooking in the kitchen. The flames were quickly extinguished by firefighters.

A charred frying pan was seen on the ground outside the home and the kitchen appeared to have sustained significant damage.

One person was treated for smoke inhalation.

No other injuries were reported.

The American Red Cross has been called in to help the displaced family.
