Family says school never contacted them after boy jumped by 5 others

Fight reported at Coconut Creek High School

COCONUT CREEK, Fla. – A family is outraged, claiming that Coconut Creek High School administrators did nothing when a teenage boy was jumped by five other boys just as school let out on Tuesday.

Broward County Public Schools spokeswoman Nadine Drew said five male students were involved in the fight and are being questioned by school officials. She said the fight apparently stemmed from a neighborhood dispute that "spilled over at school."

The victim's older sister told Local 10 News that the school has not told her family who the boys are and never notified their mother that the boy was involved in a fight.

"Where was security?" she said.

According to Drew, the principal attempted to contact the boy's mother several times, with no success.

No arrests have been made, but Drew said the boys will be "assigned consequences according to the district's Discipline Matrix."
