Andres Nolasco, 40, (left) and Angel Nolasco, 81, are accused of pretending to be licensed dentists in Miami.

MIAMI ā€“ A father and son from Miami were arrested Tuesday on charges of pretending to be licensed dentists.

According to an arrest report, the victim contacted Andres Nolasco, 40, and Angel Nolasco, 81, in April 2015 after she was referred to their business, Coral Dental Laboratory, by a friend who had services done at the business three years earlier.

Police said the victim went to the dentist office at 2540 NW Seventh St. last May 26 and was told by the men that she needed two root canals and several teeth pulled in order to get dentures.

The report said the victim returned June 2, and Andres Nolasco performed the root canals and Angel Nolasco extracted two teeth from the victim.

According to the report, the woman came back June 9 and was charged $1,000 by Angel Nolasco to start the denture work. Police said two more teeth were extracted and Angel Nolasco also took impressions of her teeth and prescribed antibiotics.

Police said Andres Nolasco was in the office that day and was present during the procedures.

Several days later, the woman said she began to feel weak, sick and had uncontrollable bleeding, so she returned to the dentist office for treatment. She said she was provided medication, but the problem persisted so she went to a local hospital, where she was treated for an infection.

Andres and Angel Nolasco were arrested Tuesday by Miami police detectives.

Detectives said they believe that there are more victims. They said Angel Nolasco was arrested by Miami police on similar charges on March 22, 2011.

Both suspects face charges of practicing dentistry without a license and practicing as a health care professional without a license.
